- The Success Story: these clients have done the work, put in the training, changed their nutritional approach, and probably overhauled their lifestyle. Awesome! Congratulations! Let’s tweak what you’re doing if needed, support you, and high five!
- The Meh Story: these clients have done some of the work. They show up to class, but maybe they’re not really challenging themselves. Possibly they follow the same recipe every time: middling weights, not pushing harder, not challenging the status quo. Probably their diet hasn’t changed very much or they haven’t committed to making the specific lifestyle or dietary changes they might need to. These clients are not usually surprised at their lackluster results.
- The Frustrating Story: these clients deserve a special place in our hearts. They have upped their game: they consistently challenge their bodies, playing around with weights and percentages of cardio to resistance. They have cleaned up their eating significantly, watching, weighing, and logging their food intake. They've likely done everything their thinner, fitter friends have done, without seeing any visible changes.
These clients work their asses off in class. They should be Success Stories based on how much they’ve overhauled their lifestyles! They’ve applied the exercise and nutrition science, met with experts, and work hard to figure out “what I’m doing wrong!”.
If you resemble this Story, we hear you. We know how frustrating it is to work hard, do the right things, and not see the scale move or the calipers show a fat loss. What’s going on? Likely, something hormonal.
Is the answer more exercise? Less food? Harder training sessions?
Trish’s extensive work assessing our clients has given her quite an edge: she is really fantastic at identifying when something hormonal is going on with a client. She tunes in and is quite adept at helping this population.
I know because I was one of those Frustrating Stories! When friends could lose weight from a mere change in diet, nothing worked for me. I was sad, frustrated, overwhelmed, angry at my body, and ashamed.
