“Years of working as a day-shift nurse had gotten me used to rising early for work, so it wasn't so difficult getting up a little earlier for the 5:30am classes. Working out in the early mornings at Method 360 has saved my life (and probably a few other people's, as well ;).
“The first few times, about 35 minutes into class, I seriously wondered if I was going to pass out or vomit. But neither of those things happened, and I kept coming back 2-4 times a week ever since. Method 360 has helped me to understand that when it comes to feeling good and strong in my body, the only person I am really competing against is myself.
“I have so appreciated my body composition assessments primarily because being at Method has made me stop being someone who was deathly afraid/ashamed at the idea of having a body composition assessment. They are a smart and holistic way to think about why I am there, what tangible change I have achieved (ok, yeah, the then-and-now pics are nice), but mostly they have showed me that the physical changes are only part of what I am going for or how I measure my success.
“I have kept showing up, learning what my body is capable of, and shedding pounds of stress along with the actual pounds. The assessments have definitely helped with that but paradoxically they have also helped me let go of some of my older sources of motivation-- that nasty scale, for example.
“Finding my tribe has helped me keep my other goal of continuing to show up -- for myself and by extension for my family, my work, my community-- and make myself mentally and physically stronger.”
