Like everyone else on the planet, Maggie couldn’t seem to incorporate fitness into her life (sound familiar?). She tells us that when her five daughters were young, she didn’t take time out of her very busy schedule for herself. “In between working full time as a teacher, the girls’ individual activities and sporting events, I was, honestly, very busy.” Maggie has shifted her schedule and priorities to fit in training and fitness. Although Maggie and her husband only have a couple of the girls home now, and she still centers her schedule around them and her work day, she “tries to make it to a minimum of four classes a week, no matter what time”.
Maggie sets small goals, taking each day and each work out, one at a time. “I make it through each class knowing that I tried to do my best and even on a bad day, I know I’ve reached my goal!” When someone is as busy as Maggie, time is of the essence, so we asked her what advice she’d offer to someone whose schedule is as tight as hers. She said, “Take time out for yourself. It’s hard to make up for “self-neglect” after the fact”. Great advice, Maggie!
